DEEPER WE FALL BY CHELSEA M. CAMERON

FALL AND RISE VOL 1

Synopsis
Two years after her best friend was involved in a car accident that caused a traumatic brain injury, Lottie Anders is ready to start her freshman year of college. Ready to move on. Ready to start forgetting the night that ripped her life apart.

Her plans come to a screeching halt when not one, but both brothers responsible for the accident end up back in her life again.

Zack is cruel, selfish and constantly rubbing what happened to her friend in Lottie's face.

Zan is different. He listens to her awkward ramblings. He loves "To Kill a Mockingbird" as much as she does, and his dark eyes are irresistible. His words are few and far between, but when he does speak, she can't help but listen.

The trouble is, Zan was the driver in the accident, and now Lottie's discovered he lied to her about what happened that night. Now she must decide if trusting him again will lead to real forgiveness, or deeper heartache.

Reactions
I hesitated before starting this novel because the story seemed ringing too much familiar bells.
Then, I threw myself into the water because I never resist a romance with the wrong guy who turn out to be a good one. So much more appealing than a prince charming...

Because obviously, even with all the shit surrounding Zan's life and all Lottie's good will, the reader knows that she will fall for Zan. That is why we turn the pages waiting to see how it will happen.
And honestly, I was pleased and surprised.

The author has done a story with main characters very strong.
Sure, they are battered and traumatized by the accident but they are fighters.
A story about young people are assuming their responsibilities and discovered themselves in adversity.

Obviously, Zack is the black sheep, who is always bailing out of his shit thanks to his brother or his parents' money. He makes mistakes after mistakes and escapes into alcohol never facing the consequences.

Secondary characters like Will, Sam, Kattie or Stryker are stubborn, loyal and faithful.
A regal!

The decor is not cutesy. It is heavy because the author addresses the dramatic consequences of an accident on the lives of young people.

One warning already heard, but that will never be repeated enough: life is too important to mess up while driving being drunk.
She also talks about the ease with which one may want to escape into drink and drugs and the strength of character it takes to want to come out and face his adult life.

Beautiful story, well told with amazing and endearing characters.

Sentences

From Miss Carole: "I don't want you going down the negative road again. It only leads to a negative place. Send out negative energy and you'll get it back."

From Stryker: "No sense in worrying about the past. It's not going to worry about you."

From Miss Carole: "See? This is why I say you need to make your own mistakes. You are the best teacher you'll ever have."

DEEPER WE FALL
BY CHELSEA M. CAMERON
FALL AND RISE VOL 1
